Last week, we discussed how to build writing skills at home. This week, I’d like to share 5 helpful resources you can use in your homeschooling to help your children become confident writers.
- Brave Writer is a treasure trove of writing resources for all ages and levels. It helps children build writing skills incrementally, as we discussed last week, and incorporates great litreature as you go along. I’ve enjoyed using it with my children. (And this is not an affiliate link, but a heartfelt recommendation.)
- Write Shop is a more formal homeschool incremental writing curriculum. It includes pre-writing activities that can be done orally and incorporates fun games and creativity.
- Wordsmith Workbook guides students in improving their writing skills. It can be preceded by Wordsmith Apprentice and followed by Wordsmith Craftsman.
- Write Your Own Book from DK guides a young writer through the process of writing their own story. Includes many creative writing excercises and prompts, along with discussion of literary elements and some technical aspects of writing.
- The Elements of Style, written by William Strunk Jr. and revised and updated by E. B. White, is a classic writing guide for mature, self-directed learners who would like to improve their writing skills.
